GREER & JIMMY
October 2025
Greer and Jimmy are an eclectic, imaginative couple who approached their wedding with a fearless sense of creativity. Their vision was less about telling a traditional love story and more about building an entire world — part enchanted butterfly-filled forest. part glowing iridescent garden with hints of mystical under-the-sea magic. Their venue, a romantic villa just outside of Los Angeles, became the backdrop for a celebration that felt immersive, otherworldly, and completely unforgettable.
When I saw their mood board, I knew the stationery had to transport guests into that world the moment they opened the envelope. The goal was to design an invitation suite that unfolded layer by layer, revealing surprises, texture, color, and movement with each step.
The experience began with a custom envelope liner filled with holographic butterflies, designed to look as if they were fluttering out the moment the envelope was opened. Nestled inside was a folded, die-cut jacket depicting a hand-painted enchanted forest scene. This jacket became the heart of the suite and felt as though it transcended the two-dimensional plane entirely.
This required some of the most technically challenging printing methods I’ve ever used, including contour-cut edges and two layers of foil:
A transparent holographic foil washed over the watercolor florals, making them appear to glow with movement and rise off the page.
An opaque holographic foil illustrated butterflies, blooming ground-cover florals, and twinkling stars that added dimension.
The main invitation inside featured two foil layers: shimmering text and a cascade of holographic butterflies that appeared to have escaped from the jacket itself. The interior of the jacket was printed with a floral pattern that framed a venue illustration, loosely inspired by Unicorn Tapestries the bride had seen at the Met.
To finish, the invitation edges were gilded in holographic foil, catching light at every angle and further enhancing the dimensionality of the suite.
The final standout was the RSVP card, die-cut in the shape of a butterfly wing. The front showcased a dramatic holographic foil design over pearlescent paper, while the back held the form for guests’ responses. It was a tiny sculpture within the suite.
