Rachelle & chris
July 2025
Chris and Rachelle first connected over a shared passion for cars, especially Audi wagons. Car talk soon revealed uncanny overlaps — same birthday, Pacific Northwest roots, and nearly identical wagon builds — it was as if fate had pulled them together. Fittingly, their wedding was set in Northern Washington, where they now share a love of boating.
To balance the bold, narrative illustrations, the Main Invitation Card was kept minimal with elegant letterpress text and painted edges. Around it, every detail told their story.
A bespoke Toile de Jouy pattern was designed to line the envelope and the inside of the jacket. The pattern featured watercolored vignettes of their adventures and passions, turning the inside of the suite into a private world of memories.
I wanted their invitations to feel like a storybook, where each turn of the page revealed another piece of their journey. The outside cover featured a watercolor aerial view of their island resort venue, setting the scene with Pacific Northwest coastal and mountain vibes. Opening the cover brought guests “inside” their world, to a pine-lined highway where Chris and Rachelle’s matching Audi RS6 wagons drove into the story, beneath a fairytale-style opening poem.
Nautical touches featured a custom bowline knot emblem (also a play on their last name, Bowlin) adorned the RSVP card, the back of the envelope, and later the reception dinner menus.
For the farewell brunch invitation, Chris and Rachelle's beloved cats took center stage, playfully depicted sipping coffee at a café table and inviting guests to join.
When the jacket is flipped over, the entire back reveals a sweeping aerial illustration of the venue and marina — a final scene-setting moment that leaves guests full of anticipation!
